Over the last week TVNZ news has run stories on the Erebus disaster. These have been well promoted and have had a high profile. TVNZ as a broadcaster promote with abundance "their product", up coming programs and their stars. So I was surprised to see that Erebus - The Aftermath was not promoted and that it screened at 10.30 pm.

Why? An earlier time slot would not have been good for Air NZ as an advertiser? No doubt TVNZ would state that it wouldn't have rated, "no one would have been interested due to the dramatized documentary being too old".

My thoughts go out to all who lost members of their family, friends and colleagues in the Erebus tragedy.

That's a documentary I would have been interested in seeing, personally... alas, I (currently) reside in NYC, so NO CHANCE!

(Thank God for YouTube, that I even get to hear NZ accents occasionally.)

But yeah, you have to admit, TE901 (Erebus) wasn't exactly Air NZ's finest hour, and if they are still a premier advertiser on TVNZ (uh - I'd say probably!) then 10.30 at night is probably the earliest they could get away with airing it. Sadly.

And I say that as someone who weeps with joy when stepping on to an Air NZ flight after time "overseas" (and by that I mean - anywhere that's not Australia or New Zealand!)
