Hi.

I guess seeing the news tonight about the 30th annivesary inspired me to have a look on the net and i found this forum.

I have an original copy of the Certificate of Historic Flight by Air New Zealand DC-10 to the Antartic Region un-named and dated 28th November 1979.

My father used to be the civil engineer in charge of the runway at auckland airport at the time of the Erebus accident and he remembers watching the place take off down the runway and thinking to himself that that was the flight to Antartica as he had thought about going but as my mother had just given birth to me he decided not to. After the place took off he did a runway check and picked up some rubbish which included this certificate.

I have done a little research about it and as far as i can tell they were handed out on the place and the only other one is held by archives NZ and was found on Erebus by search partys. (Does anyone have any information about this?)

I tried to attach a copy of it but i can not work out how to....let me how to do this and i will upload it.
